Lefties

Was wondering how many people here are lefties and if they have any quirks in how they draw or write. 

I go through sketchpads backwards or upside down so I am not resting my hand on the binding. Also when I draw/color on the computer I am right handed, which I think is weird because when i try to draw on paper with my right hand it comes out all shakey.

I am left handed, and I've gotten used to it. My handwriting is poor but I don't smudge like I did as a kid. When I draw, I hold the paper normal but rotate it around when I color. And sometimes I put a sheet of white paper under the side of my hand to protect the image from smears.

I'm functionally ambidextrous, which probably means I'm really a leftie... but grew up doing things with my right hand because no one noticed and that's how I was taught.  Which is good, because since I had a herniated disk that pinched the nerve to my left hand, it doesn't work quite so well as it used to, and I've been doing more fine-motor work with the right. But there are... certain things... I only do with my left.

Same for me, except once they noticed I did a lot of things with my right hand anyway, the powers-that-were my grade school teachers decided they could do no harm training me to go all right-handed. So nowadays I write and draw with my right hand, because those were the areas they trained me in, and I play guitar the right-handed way because it's the only way anybody I knew could teach me, but I cut bread and handle tools with my left hand because nobody bothered to teach me that.

It's pretty nifty when I have to draw a line that's curved to the left or something. Most people I know will turn the paper around for that - I just switch hands.

Left-hander for drawing, writing and so on. And I cannot seem to keep my hand off the physical page when I draw on actual paper. Which made using brushes and dip-pens problematic, so those are now sitting next to the drawing table gathering dust.

Russell, I still have to maintain that kind of self-discipline you wrote about...
