There should now be an option to 'unread' a thread in the little options drop down that appears to the right of a thread title. Give it a shot and let me know if there are issues.
Hello. It's Beth. I can't sign in via Twitter. Is it the message board or me?
(edited to show the pop up error message I get when signing in)
Fatal error: Wrong parameters for Exception([string $exception [, long $code [, Exception $previous = NULL]]]) in/home/steve55/public_html/sequentialworkshop.com/forum/plugins/Twitter/class.twitter.plugin.php on line 305
@SteveWallace So I remember in another thread someone posted that the bulk of our threads are private, and I noticed the default category to put new threads into is "private." Do you think we should consider moving the "private" category further down the list of thread options?
Some of the threads labeled "private" may not actually need to be that way, but someone may not have thought to change the category. Just a thought, since I know we're trying to expand the roster of people on the forum.
Quest brought up some of the same points about the privacy issue -- and he's right. However, in the same breath, some of the best topics have been issues that needed to be private.
@Jimmie-Robinson Agreed there are definitely topics that should be kept private. However, I wonder if the propensity of private threads will decrease if it is no longer the default (or first) option.
I'm not sure if the order of categories is something that can be changed, or if that's just how they get listed. That's something @SteveWallace would have to look at. We don't need fewer private topics, just more open ones.
Also... I'm not sure if this is the place to bring this up... but if any money is needed to help defray server / host cost please just let me know. I like it here and I'll gladly pay my portion to help it out.
We get lots of robo sign-ups that include link spam in their personal message pages. If we can require e-mail confirmation of new accounts or some other additional hoop to jump thru, I think that'd be worth it.
The stuff I'm talking about can't be deleted by mere moderators. Hardly anybody ever sees it (you have to click the "Activity" link), but I'd still like to be rid of it ... if only because it makes the "Activity" page less useful.
Yeah, looking through the user list there are a ton of spam bots. I'm working on a solution and in the meantime I'm going through the user list and deleting the spambots and their content. I also enabled the email verification setting - which I thought I had enabled actually - that will kill some of it. I'm considering swapping the new user signup to 'admin approval' mode since I think the valid new user count is fairly low and probably pretty manageable.
Thanks all, I'm not really worried about it though. I host the site as an extra domain on my main account so it's cost I would be paying no matter what anyway so no worries.
Hmmm... It would appear that when working on the site, something went wrong with the Twitter log in again. There was an error about something that was no longer in the cgi bin, right before I got booted out.

And to re-mark a thread as "read" (so far), go to the last page of it (like in this case: 3)

@BethWagner odd, I'll take a look at it.
