CAN-CON (Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada)
It's about ten months out to the next edition of our conven-- errr, conference -- but it seems a good idea to get this thread moving.
We've got a comics track of programming planned again. That much is certain. A lot of things remain unclear, such as who and what's going to be involved in it. Our event's main focus remains "Canadian content in speculative arts and literature", as ever, so Canadian comics creators and anyone from anywhere else who's interested in those creators and their works are welcome.
We're also discussing ideas for "Virtual Guests", so that people who can't or won't travel across half the continent to get to our show can still participate if they're interested.
Looking for ideas, offers, feedback, what-have-you.

Shawn: Do you know Jay Odjick? He's from the Kitigan Zibi - admittedly Algonquin, not Ojibway/Anishnabe - but he may have some useful advice in any case. He's also written, drawn and gotten published Kagagi the Raven, and on the strength of that has been a guest/panelist at the two most recent CAN-CON editions.
In any case, send me a note via e-mail and I'll get you introduced to the organizing committee!
Keeping it on our "Want to Do in 2013" list.

Also...we're hosting the Aurora Awards next year. That's THE big science-fiction and fantasy awards for Canada.
We're gonna need a bigger hotel. B-)
I've been less involved in organizing the event, but happy to show up and pay my share of the expenses as a regular attendee.
If you want a look at the website to keep up on what's going on with the 2016 edition...here you go.
