I keep thinking of really over-the-top stuff, like an alien invasion or a pandemic or something. But I'm guessing you're looking for something less apocalyptic? Or you could go for a more ambiguous thing, where everyone seems just a little "of…

Got back another round of notes from the editor on the Lady Spectra script. She agreed that the second draft corrected all the problems with the previous one, so that's a relief. She had a couple suggestions for minor tweaks, which will be easy enou…

My editor got back to me with the first round of notes on the Lady Spectra script. I was relieved to see that the parts of the story I was confident about -- the action and humor and overall plot -- she thought were strong as well. She did point two…

In comics especially, a lot of that #1 and #2 context can be delivered visually. The way a character looks, their style of dress, the environment they're in, etc. can tell you a lot about them at a glance. No need to go into a lot of detail about ho…

An online acquaintance (whose work I greatly admire) is offering freelance editing services. On a whim, I decided to hire her to go over one of my Lady Spectra scripts. Being almost entirely self-published, I've never had my work edited or critiqued…

Obviously, I wasn't the first to come up with it, but I was amused/chagrined to see a gimmick I used in an old Lady Spectra story turn up as a major set piece in "Age of Ultron" (spoilers if you haven't seen the movie): http://ladyspectra…

My buddy Brien Wayne Powell asked me to draw a story for his wrestling-themed comic, "Boogieland or Bust". It was an interesting challenge....Brien's own artwork is really simple and naive, which I think works perfectly with his off-kilter…

I always get a kick out of your con reports, Trevor. Makes me want to get back on the convention circuit. One of these days... I'm curious: Is there a specific strategy behind pricing "Reading With Pictures" at $20, and "Albert"…

I'm no expert, but it looks fuckin' gorgeous to me!

Posted the last GLORIANNA webstrip on Friday, along with the official announcement that it's over. So far, I've had exactly 3 people comment on it, one of which was my Mom. Which pretty much confirms that I made the right decision to kill it. :P Ha…

I did a pair of stories where Lady Spectra (modern-day superhero) and Glorianna (post-apocalypse barbarian) switched places in time...they didn't actually meet, but each one had an adventure in the other's home turf. There's another Lady Spectra st…

In one of the early Glorianna stories, I had an extended flashback where a character narrates his life story. After writing and drawing that sequence, I thought it felt a little too pat and cliche, so later in the story I revealed the character had …

Congratulations, @RussellLissau ! That cover is a stunner.

2014: Kept the weekly Glorianna and Lady Spectra webcomics going. Published Fantasy Theater #24. Short story "The Maze and the Mirror" for Robin Childs' Kickstarter. A handful of pin-ups/guest art for various webcomics. Started brainstormi…

The trend continues, on both Glorianna and Lady Spectra -- no change in the number of unique visitors, but a noticeable surge in number of views. No idea what's going on here: (Image)

So naturally, once I decided that I was going to be putting my webcomic on hiatus, I'm suddenly seeing a spike in interest: (Image) No real change in the number of visitors, but the ones who are there are apparently interested enough to read a bu…

Glad you enjoyed your stop in Cincy! I was hoping to get out to the show for at least one day, but work schedule interfered. Maybe next year.

THough, again, looking at the 'official ink wells' sort of reinforces my thinking of repurposing something. Most of them look like perfume bottles, or fancy ink bottles, or spice jars. Anything with a 'well' in it is fair game. I have a soap stone c…

http://fantasytheater.indyplanet.com/ Fantasy Theater #24 is now available, in print and digital versions. It's an all-Glorianna issue, with two complete stories, full of barbarian action and savage introspection!

8-page story "The Maze and the Mirror" finished and sent off to the editor, who declared it "awesome and heartwarming and WONDERFUL!" :D

I won't be tabling at Cincy, but it's close by, so I may pop in for a couple hours if my work schedule allows.

Got my sample copy of FANTASY THEATER #24 from Ka-Blam. I'm really happy with how the cover printed, and all my heavy-handed black inks came out nice and dark and clean. Should have it up for sale on Indy Planet shortly.

Great expressions on that page, Craig. Love that first panel especially.

I've had my nose to the grindstone this past week, finishing up my contribution to "Trickster Tales" (the PDF bonus book that's going out to people who supported the LeyLines Kickstarter). I just found out the deadline's being extended, so…

Fantasy Theater #24 has been zipped up and FTP'd over to Ka-Blam. 60 frickin' pages.
