Gave an interview yesterday about Conny Van Ehlsing. No embarassing questions about how there hasn't been much for the last couple of months.
Uploaded a new cartoon for today and it went live today, but after the apparent terrorist attack in Berlin I decided to postpone any actual promoting till tomorrow.
Spent the last week layouting a magazine. This isn't usually The Work for me but six pages of it are an article of mine about cartooning but I wrote that earlier (there's a proto version of it here). I've also provided some photographs, mostly because I was too lazy to look up licenses online) and an alternate cover which is now on page 2. It's weird for me, I feel like I'm totally dominating the issue with all that stuff but I'm probably not.
This check in here is for me to report that I didn't get anything done this week except for cleaning up the studio and editing. I'm leaving this here as a reminder to myself to get my butt in gear and to get back on track.
Updating my Patreon page (no longer exclusively focused on Albert the Alien), organizing my Kickstarter for Albert the Alien vol 3, and reworking some script pages for my young readers pitch.
Just found a quick hack for taking my e-mail mailing list and importing it into my comic mailing list. Need to weed out the co-workers who wouldn't be interested in receiving that messaging (and also check to make sure it's legal to send that list a "sign up request" e-mail, in conjunction with can-spam laws.
But hey, if I can use it - this may increase my mailing list by 15x!
Launched the magazine yesterday with a fairly successful group reading which included me and my article. 'Fairly successful' meaning not too many people showed up and bought the magazine but they did laugh at the right bits and all that.
This weekend I realised that I'd forgotten about drawing the new page of Isaac's Run. It was due on Saturday. (Luckily this deadline is to ensure that I at least have a one month lead time) So I began working on roughs.
Shawn's work on BUSTED is done, so it's off to the letterer -- Josh Southall. Current plan is an early spring publication. This will be my first traditionally-sized self-published comic, as opposed to a mini, so I'm excited about that -- and curious if the size will affect sales at all.
Been struggling to get into a groove with writing since the baby was born, and feel like my productivity continues to wane. That said, I knocked out another few pages of script last night, and need to get another 5-10 pages done before end of week. Ambitious with the baby, but I think possible.
Yesterday was super productive! My friend Peter from Rock, Paper, Cynic showed me the draft for his Kickstarter and I gave him some advice and got some good tips from him as well!
Then I put together the basic layout for the next issue of Isaac's Run (collected from the website) as well as getting some lame sketching and doing a few quick periscope blips!
Last night I reworked some pages for Isaac's Run, did a quick video for the Go Fund Me campaign and then did some editing on the novel. In other words? This was what needs to be a typical night for me.
Finished a convention with a 14 hour sales floor. Exhausted. Baby also has a cold, so no recovery this week.
Sadly, sales were down (for everyone) from previous years. Still, a fun con to go to - and still probably my highest sales I'll get this year, shy of NYCC. Full convention report going live this week.
My productivity has sucked lately, and it isn't because I haven't had time. So I'm gonna try using this again. Today I... decided to try using this again.
Knocked out another 3 pages of script for Albert the Alien on the train ride in this morning. It came a bit slower than the first 5 pages, but that's probably because I'm sleep deprived from the baby.
