Gary Reed is bringing back Caliber Presents, as a B&W mature-readers anthology of ~8-page stories, each issue being 100+pages in paperback, with a goal of bimonthly.
This is the only time I'll mention it here, but my graphic novel RED ANGEL DRAGNET is nominated for a Ghastly Award for excellence in horror comics. I'm up for best OGN (and I say "I" only because I'm the publisher; Anna Wieszczyk drew the inside pictures and our own Richard Pace illustrated one hell of a cover).
@JustinJordan's Dark Gods is nominated for best limited series, as well.
I've been made to understand pro ballots carry a little more weight in the voting, and since most of you guys are pros, I thought I'd solicit your help THIS ONE TIME.
This is - I think, still looking for new stuff. I've just wrapped (well, about to letter) my first 10 pager in a fucklong time and since a lot of people missed the end of January deadline (including me - YAY!) things are being re-shuffled.
If you have a 8-10 page, finished FutureNoir story sittting around, throw it at this!
If you can bang out artwork for same, throw it at this!

SO... (Part II)
What exactly am I looking for as an editor at Heavy Metal?
- I'm looking for art that tells a great story with a powerful and visually distinct style. Visual personality is a huge element.
- I'm looking for stories that push the boundaries. The motto here is "let's make comics dangerous again". Heavy Metal published work that blew minds in the 70s and 80s. We want that same sense of risk and daring, shot through a 21st century lens. Which means...
- I'm looking for DIVERSE and DIFFERENT narratives and creators. Heavy Metal has always been about sex and sci fi, but we want stories from women, from gay and trans creators. from viewpoints OTHER than straight white and male. (and yes, if you are a straight white male, you can still contribute, but we want to actively change the voice of the mag here)
- SciFi has always been about imagination. Lately, we've seen it slip into "by the numbers" formula. I want stories that challenge that and redefine reality like PKD did back in the day.
If you think you can do this, then let's see what you got. This is one of those rare moments to have a big, wide, PAYING forum to really make something that redefines comics.
More people here are eligible for this opportunity (any writer or artist who hasn't had work published by DC in the past year): DC Comics Talent Workshop.
DC comics talent workshop is something they should have been doing from the beginning. Build up and educate your talent so you have options right here, ready to go on your titles!
